Tiehm's buckwheat, scientifically known as Eriogonum tiehmii, is a rare flowering plant native to Nevada, USA. The cushion-like midget plant develops petite silver-green sheets that form compact cushions on the ground. The tiny pale bouquets cluster in packed heads at the tips of tiny stems. Pollinators are attracted to the plant when it blooms in spring. Small triangular fruits with seeds form for reproduction. Typically under 4 inches tall, it thrives in sunny, sandy areas. While not often cultivated, it can prosper in sunny, sandy, well-drained earth. The white flowers stand out against the leaves.
